The Good Pen

For reading we have been reading a persuasive text about the Evil Drinking Fountain. We decided to write another persuasive text convincing someone the object we chose had a special power too. Here is my persuasive text is about the good pen.

The Good Pen
I knew the pen was good.

One day this pen was made for destiny! It would travel the world saving peoples lives. It turned up at our school. We saw Ethan using it at work finishing to mark his work off.  I was playing with him later at lunch and suddenly he CRASHED on the ground and grazed his knee. A couple seconds later his cut healed.



Days past …. the pen was protected for those days, locked up in a cabinet with nothing in it.  Just the pen. At morning tea I didn't finish my writing so I had to stay in. I opened the cabinet and got the pen out. I got my book and I did a couple more sentences. After I finished my work, I fell out of a tree and got a HUGE scar on my leg but the pen healed it right away. I wondered ~ how does the cut heal me when i’m far away from it?


One day later at reading time Cody used the pen for his reading activity. After school he went to SKIDS and fell off the flying fox and split his knee open with a big piece of bark but the pen healed him in 1 second.


Those are the reasons why I think this pen is good.

Graffiti

For reading we had learnt to skim and scan. We read a book called Write4Gold. We used all of our skimming and scamming skills to answer the questions in the book. We put the questions in a slide show that we had created. We created a piece of graffiti artwork. I created it on a piece of paper. We did a type of graffiti word what means something to you. I chose Yolo. Yolo means you only live once.

Picasso Head

My Picasso is green and pink. He has green hair on one side of his face. He has one eye closed and one eye open. He has his ears perst  but it is covered with his green hair. He also has a green line around his face in the shape of a square. We did this because we have been doing an inquiry about "What makes art, art?...which involves Picasso because Picasso is an artist.

Cave Paintings

In class we have been learning about cave paintings. Cave men used this painting put of ochre   and a hand-print. Why did they do this painting? I know they did this painting because  they did it to tell stories and memories messages. 

Back in the day they did not have paint and paint brushes so they have to use there hands or they could of made paint brushes with sticks and animal fur. They had to use what was around them, that was ochre, charcoal and limestone. They mixed ochre with animal fat to make the colour red.

Art

I searched the internet and found a piece of artwork I liked. I found it on CC Search. It looks like the abandoned building.

I like this art because I like the technique the artist used to make this picture but the thing I don't like about it is that it is graffiti and graffiti is bad.

My Stop Motion Movie

Last week my class and I did an experiment. We had a canister and we  put Lego around it like a volcano then we put baking soda in and put some vinegar in and it fizzed up. We used an app called Stop Motion and this is our movie.


Toondoo

Me and the class made a cartoon using the website Toondoo. It has onomatopoeia in it which are words for sounds. We created the cartoon with onomatopoeia in the story. Here is a my Toondoo cartoon. 


Word Cloud

In writing we have been learning about verbs, adjectives and adverbs. We then made a word cloud with them in it.

Here is a story I wrote with the words.

One day I went swimming. I did a bomb in the pool and I splashed every where. I am so strong. I swam quickly to the end then I swam slowly on my way back to the end I came from. Mrs Palmer said that we can have one more jump so I did a Manu. It hurt my back when my back touched the water. I said ouch. We did the lessons and we finished it so rapidly then we got to have around 10 minutes of free time so then I asked Mrs Palmer if we could play dodge ball. We are so lucky to have our pool. When we got out I slipped and it hurt.

Chunky chalks


Mrs Palmer read us a book about how to make our own chalk. We followed the instructions to make our own. My favourite part was putting the dye  in the bowl and watching the mixture change colour. I also thought my buddy was helpful during the activity. 

Chunky Chalks

Question
What will happen when we mix Plaster of Paris with water?


Materials
Plaster of Paris, water, bowl, spoon, measuring cups, 2 plastic bags.


Method
  1. In a bowl tip 2 cups of Plaster of Paris and ¾ cup of water.
  2. Add some dye to colour it.
  3. Stir the mixture until there is are no lumps and it is smooth.
  4. Divide the mixture in half. Put half in one plastic bag and the other half in the other plastic bag.
  5. Take all the air out of the bag and seal it up.
  6. Put the bag on the bench and after an hour make an observation.
  7. Leave there for at least 24 hours.
  8. Open the bag and see what you can do with it.


Observations
  1. After an hour we picked up the plastic bag and it felt warm and was starting to go hard.
  2. The next day it was very hard and had formed into a shape.


Results
Gypsum (calcium sulfate) is one of the ingredients of Plaster of Paris. Gypsum is found as a mineral rock. The calcium sulfate is bound together by water which keeps it in its solid form.

When gypsum is heated gently water is lost and the crystals become white powder. When we add water to this powder, the water recombines with the gypsum. As this happens the mixture gets hot (an exothermic chemical reaction occurs) and forms a paste which then sets hard.





Question

One day I saw a cheese burger and it was alive! He was attacking the city. He spat macaroni out of his mouth and he looked so yummy. I rubbed my eyes and I kept looking at the food. I was like, I'm so hungry I'm gonna eat that monster. He looks so yum. I ran up to the giant and I ate him slowly and after around 2 days I blew up because that was way to much food to eat.

Blogging Guidelines

This week we learned about commenting. We learnt how to comment on other peoples blogs on student blogging challenge. We learnt by choosing someones blog and commenting on the work we liked that they did. I commented on somebody called Ty-Ty he had a really cool blog and it was eye catching and interesting. I commented on a story called The Galaxy and I love the galaxy patterns so I had to comment on that. 

Writing Experience week 8

Zoom! Woof, woof I was biking along the streets. Then bang! A loose dog ran to attack me. I fell off my bike then the dog attacked me. I turned as blue as the ocean sea. My heart was pounding as fast as the sea, as fast as the flash as fast as the dog killing me. After around 10 minutes the dog finally ran away like the speed of light. I was in so much pain my legs were shaking like I was in the movie Goosebumps and the zombies where attacking me. My bike had a flat tire so I had to walk it home. When I got home my mum screamed so loud dad ran in  the room then he saw me looking like a zombie!

Today we learned all about a new website. On this website you can take photos from other people. On this website you can use images, videos and photos. The website is called Creative commons. You can take the photos without getting special permission because the site is all about taking stuff from other people. People put images there for other people. We watched a video to learn about Creative Commons.

Yay! I'm going to Mase's  for a dirt bike ride with him and Lachlan in the mountains. OMG it's time I have to get my dirt bike on the truck and go pick them up. "Hi Mase." "Hi Lachlan". "Hey Jax." they both replied.  We start to drive there. It took ages to get there..........

Green Pastures Camp

Wohoo the mud run is on in about five minutes. I get ready for the mud run by putting on my old clothes. We are leaving now. We all start walking and I walked with Sith and it was fun. There was a little muddy hill when we were walking there. Yes! We are at the mud run now. I was the first one down. Oh!
Ewww its so gross in here!!! OMG a crayfish! Its so cool. I picked it up but then Tyson threw it in the super thick mud. Yay! I'm on my 9th lap. I think I'm going to quit now.

The Giant Marble

Title: The Giant Marble


Prediction:
Maybe when you put the marble in the water the marble might disappear and you can’t see it anymore.


Materials: you need 1 plastic cup fill it up with water put the marble in then wait……


Procedure
1. The marble might get bigger
2. The marble socked up all the water
3. Then the marble is  big it fells like a little blob of slime


Observation:
The marble got bigger since we put the little tiny marble in the cup.

The marble socked up water and got bigger and bigger.

The marble socked up more water and it made air bubbles.

Results
The marble pushed the air bubbles out of the way and I think it turned into an orbi. It was more water than plastic.

Adaptation
I might use soda instead of water and see if that will work.

Welcome Back

Hooray!!! The sunny and hot holidays have ended. I am really happy that we are at school.
It's been so long since I have seen the teachers, the classroom and the school of course. We went swimming and had a snowball fight to learn more about other people in our class.Image result for welcome back to school
